Gestural movement drawings

Main Project: Draw, Draw, Erase, Draw, Draw

I’m very impressed with myself for how well this turned out, most of the time technology doesn’t go my way. I’m very thankful of Kat to give me the idea to use clay, i love learning new things but I like to use what i learned and put that into ceramics. I like making new and different work ,but I missed being able to throw in my studio and using clay in general. After watching the links that Kat sent to me for inspiration for clay animation, I ended up dreaming about what my project would look like. I have a pond at my house that use to be my spot because it was peaceful and the sounds of the frogs and birds. I use to throw rocks in the pond so this is more of a memory film for me.

this turned out great!!! I love that you used a string to capture the ball of clay falling. Brilliant! And am so happy that you found an excuse to use clay. Please keep making these – it looks like you had a lot of fun doing it. You might consider adding sound? if its based on a pond at your house can you record the sound of throwing rocks into the pond and adding it to the video?
The gesture drawings are a good start! I think that the more you do the easier they will get. I would recommend not relying on the outside contour line as much – try finding the movement within the figures – imagine drawing all the bones and muscles moving the figures around. Gesture drawings are really about illustrating the essence of the movement, not about likeness!
