I connected to Bryan Zanisnik because he gets his inspired from his family and his history. For me, my work is about my genetics , to deal with things that I can’t control. His “studio” is his basement because there are so many materials he can use and things from his childhood like videos that are used in his artwork. He wanted his performances very unpredictable. For me, I have an actual studio but that’s not where I get my inspiration or ideas. At first, I would just make art in my art classes back in middle school, I wasn’t great at making art but everyone in my family has some artistic ability and I just had to find mine. Once I fell in love with ceramics, I knew I wanted to make ceramics for the rest of my life. In high school I wanted to make everything and anything. There was so much that I wanted to do and experiment with but not enough time. Then I started to make “Squiggles” that’s so special to me because the randomness in making them and presenting them. When people see my Squiggles, they have no idea what to call it because it’s so random and free flowing. I love that aspect of my art and so does Bryan Zanisnik in his work.
